How to object to the giant telly

We've had lots of emails (thank you!) about the giant telly planned for Walthamstow town square and asking for more details on how to object...
The deadline for objections is Monday 5 May. And seeing as that's a bank holiday it's probably best to send your objections by email, to Rachel.Jagger@walthamforest.gov.uk
Below are three links to Word documents that should help you draft your own objection. The first two are the official objections from Cleveland Park Residents' Association and Waltham Forest Civic Society. They go into lots of detail in terms of what's wrong with the current plans and the planning arguments against them. The third document is a template to make it easy for you to write your own objection letter/email. It basically says that you support the main points in the CPRA and WFCS objections and then gives room for you to add your own comments/points (which is important because the council will take your letter far more seriously if you personalise it). Enjoy!!!

Have the council still not posted these plans online?

I thought this was a legal requirement these days.

We wish - but no! While the council has a a searchable database of planning applications online (see the link under "Ammunition", on the right-hand side of the Fight The Height home page) you can still only see plans by visiting Chestnuts House, which is beside Walthamstow Town Hall.

NEWSFLASH! Residents emailing Rachel Jagger today have received auto replies saying she's out of the office.
We recommend CCing planning administrator Liz Appiah Liz.Appiah@walthamforest.gov.uk and asking her to make sure your objection is considered, seeing as the case officer is away and the deadline hasn't passed yet...

You'd have thought the "Giant Telly" project would be dead in the water following the recent Labour's melt down in the council elections.

What could be worse for our Council than mega pixalled pics of Gordon Brown reminding Walthamstow's voters of the pay cut visited on them by New Labour through the abolition of the 10% tax rate?

But I'm being unimaginative. The screen could show works of art that most of us wouldn't otherwise see. Or Larkin's or Blake's poems. Or Morris's prints. Or photos of Pakistan, Iran, Iraq, Latvia, Lloyd Park, India, and Leyton Orient scoring a goal!

Or it could be brash, commercial and loud.
